I have a like/hate relationship with my neighbors, usually depending on whether they’re using our courtyard as a Venice Hostel or not.  I tend to avoid their booze and cigarette filled powwows b/c honestly they talk, a lot, about themselves. Weekly.  And while I love myself immensely, I do not usually care to whimsically divulge my core self, emotions, frustrations and relationships for hours on end in a hen circle (That’s what friends are for). 

But last night neighbor-Amy caught me in my doorway and announced she was doing a Full Moon Meditation.  Slightly intrigued, she expanded that it would be based on her NY Reiki Instructor’s interpretation of the Mayan Calendar and its particular “power” this month.  *eyebrow raise*  I love me a full moon, especially a magical one!  I’m in.

In short, the end of the Mayan calendar is upon us and these past two days hold particular significance, as yesterday was the “end of the beginning” and tonight’s fullest moon marks the beginning of “the end.”  The dates 10/10/11 and 10/11/11 symbolize progress, transformation, new beginnings, oneness and illumination.

Once the full moon rises tonight, write down between two and ten of your wants, wishes, desires, and expectations from the universe.  Get specific, visualize your ideal self, life scenario and put it out there.  This is a “burn,” so once your future is aptly expressed on paper you then burn it up!  If you have sage or incense and that’s your thing, burn that too… why not.

Once we had scribbled furiously for a few minutes we opted to share some less personal items aloud, and provide some words of support.  Overall a great experience, plus our meditation included some delicious wine. (I’m sure the Mayans wouldn’t mind). 

The Full Moon peaks just after 10pm Eastern/7pm Pacific, so get on it!

You only live once, and life is short.  Say yes, dream big and make it happen!
